Of course the Bible isn't historically accurate. Religious texts are not meant to be true. They are stories, myths, with characters you are supposed to relate to and draw strength from. The more they are taken literally the further religion goes down the tube.
But the Bible does have some fucked up shit in it...killing your son? Letting your daughter be raped? I've never understood where the moral strength could be found in it, but to each his own. Just don't take that shit literally or we're in trouble.
