Let Me Get This Straight

A company whose primary product is designed to kill (weeds) is upset that an employee is using a product from an industry that is one of the leading consumers of weed killer. Oh and Scotts fertalizer is pretty handy when you want to make ANFO to kill your neighbors. But they want to protect their employees health. I guess I'm going to be buying Vigoro next year.

Their healthcare costs? They are reimburseable by the Federal Gov't for the premiums they pay out on. If they cared that much about people's health, they'd advocate for socialized medicine.

Grrr...

What's next? "We don't hire fat people?" "We don't hire people with breast cancer in their families?" This is complete and utter bullshit. It's the same reason my employers have kept my 82-year-old colleague part-time despite her frequent requests to be full-time and her eight years of service to the company. I think they just don't want to pay her healthcare costs. Fucking assholes, all.

I would love to read the transcripts from that trial. (I doubt it'll go to trial) If they didn't see him smoking, then it could have been the patch and the gum. He may not have had a cigarette in three weeks and was chewing the gum every two hours while wearing a patch.

I smoke and I smoke because I can buy a pack of cagarettes at any gas station. If I had to have a dealer to get my expensive weed, I wouldn't smoke, just the same way that I don't use meth. It's not easy for me to get.

But what gets me the most is that they would rather spend money on smoking cessation classes. That and the fact that they spent $5 million building a health complex at their HQ. Why not spend that money on getting employees memberships to health clubs close to where they live and work.
