The funniest thing is that we think we can "tame" Afghanistan. The British tried three times over a century of using British India as a base and got their asses handed to them the first two, and a truce the third. The third was when the British had airplanes and Kabul didn't. But they still couldn't occupy the place successfully.
Vietnam clearly showd the world that you cannot occupy a country from the air. You can only do it with boots on the ground and only then with significantly more boots on your side than against you.
We don't think we can tame them. Bush and people who have a love for authoritarian personalities think they can. This is his war and I plan on deducting it from my taxes.
